Trees have historically represented the natural beauty of the world and the essence of life itself. The tree of life motif has been a very widespread artistic expression for millennia. Many cultures have depicted trees in art throughout all types of mediums. This laser engraved, hand painted artwork echoes that age old art form of life by reimagining and bringing a historic motif to existence with this wall hanging or shelf art. The tree laser engraved on the surface here is inspired by a carved lattice window in the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque in Ahmedabad India. The mosque was built in 1573 by the Abyssinian official in the army of the last Sultan of Gujarat, Shamsuddin Muzaffar Shah III. This date palm motif is a very iconic symbol of that city's history and past. We were excited to bring a piece of that past and beauty here to The Arabesque. This is truly a unique art piece and if you love it don't let it go - because art like this is one-of-a-kind and hard to reproduce.

The wood plaque this art was created on measures 12 x 16 x 1.5 inches. The paint uses is acrylics and gold leaf. It has been protected with a shellac finish.

I am thrilled with this exquisite Medieval Indian Tree of Life wooden wall art inspired by a 1573 window of a mosque in India. It now is hanging protected under a canopy on our outside patio gracing my secret garden of hydrangeas and honeysuckle. I am redoing my patio in Moroccan/Andalusian colors and decor reflecting a period of time when different peoples and religions lived peacefully together. Being a historian fascinated with ancient cultures, what is stated on your business card calls to my heart. Ancient history must be preserved. I often listen to CDs of Hesperion and other ancient music to carry me away from today’s problems. You were so kind to also give me the beautiful indigo scarf with your logo on it, which I will proudly wear.
