The lion was a fierce beast revered and respected by most cultures throughout history. Medieval Islamic culture often depicted lions to display majesty, regality, and sheer elegance. The lioness design on this plate comes from a 12th century medieval Seljuk design which was part of a stoneware dish produced in medieval Persia. This lion plate comes in a left facing and right facing position. It is one of a kind, and has been finished in an antique silver finish.
The plate has polyurethane surface to protect the artwork. It cannot be washed and is meant for decor purposes or for dry items only. It is 11.5 inches wide.
