The scarf draws its design from medieval tiraz patterns common in the Middle Ages throughout the Near East. The tiraz textiles were royally commissioned by medieval courts as textiles symbolizing investiture and rank. The bunny (hare) motif in medieval art has historically been a symbol of prosperity, luck, and joy. It appears on several works of art. The bunny design we used here is originally from a medieval Fatimid ceramic bowl made in Egypt. This scarf is a modern and stylish representation of this material history and time period. Each scarf is 60 inches long and 12 inches wide.
