The Arabesque® Wooden Wall Art - Medieval Maghribi Arabic Calligraphy Quran Inspired by "The Nurse's Quran" from Kairouan Tunisia.
This wooden wall hanging depicts woodburned medieval Arabic calligraphy inspired by the medieval Tunisian Quran known as the Nurse's Quran. This particular Quran dates to 1020 and its patron was Fatimah al-Hadina, the nurse and caretaker of the Zirid Prince, al-Muʻizz b. Badis. It's handwriting is specific to medieval Kairouan and unlike Maghribi calligraphy, which is more circular in its execution, this Quran has angular Arabic script unique to this city.
In this handmade and woodburned home decor wall hanging, we have recreated part of verse 255 of the second Surah of Quran, the throne verse, as it was written in the Nurse's Quran. The Nurse's Quran consists of five lines, we included a sixth line on this work of art to make the included words from the verse be complete in meaning.
