The hare was a common motif used by artists in the Middle Ages. The design for this wooden wall hanging or desk art is derived from an ivory carving made in 11th century Egypt. During this time period, many artists in the Fatimid dynasty ruling Egypt used nature and the principles of the arabesque to depict the world around them. Hares were a common artistic theme and they represented luck and fortune. We reimagined that medieval bunny arabesque plaque in this old-world look-elegant wooden wall art plaque. The entire design is surrounded by a pseudo-kufic frame like decoration which is part of the original artwork. We have given this historical design a rustic and antique look with woodburning, paints, and gold metallic accents.
You can use this piece of art for a variety of purposes such as a wall hanging, shelf art, or desk plaque. The plaque measures 11 x 13 x 0.8 inches.
